The customer's need

Hydraulic skids in accordance with Norsok, IecEx and DNV-GL regulations.

The request was to design, build, paint and assemble hydraulic skids with a high power density, in accordance with Norsok, IecEx and DNV-GL regulations.

Project Focus

Three types of SKid

These plants provide the hydraulic power for the mooring of FPSO vessels.

The skids produced are of three types:

  • Open skid for safe area for "under deck" installation
  • Open skid for explosion risk area for "above deck" installation
  • Cabinet for hazardous area for "above deck" installation

For the realization, IECEx certified instruments for zone 1 IIB T3 specific for the offshore sector were also required, which stands out for its aggressive environment and the need for high safety standards.

What Hydroservice developed

A project defined in every detail

Hydroservice has developed the design of the systems in close contact with the customer's technical office for a better integration of the product within the operational context.

In particular, we defined the layout, the development of the tank according to the inclination of the ship, the analysis of inertial loads, the sizing of the lifting and fixing points in accordance with the DNV-GL directives.
At the same time we have selected and coordinated some strategic suppliers, taken care of the assembly and testing of the plant. Particular attention was paid to the painting process which required the use of specific products for the realization of the C5M cycle, with P2 degree of preparation and qualification of the process by Nace or Frosio level 3 inspector.

The results

A global team effort

The plants in question are among the largest in terms of size and installed power built in Hydroservice.

The challenge was to know how to adapt our production model according to the peculiarities of the product we were going to make.

This project saw the participation of the whole company as, given the tight time frame and the technical-organizational complexity, it was necessary to find design and construction solutions that were in accordance with the stringent technical specifications.

Each person on the team has therefore made a contribution starting from their experience and making their skills available.

This project highlighted Hydroservice's abilities in facing new challenges and gave us the awareness that, thanks to teamwork, we can reach high goals!
